Q: Is a PET/CT/US/ECHO covered by my insurance?

All these procedures are covered by most insurance plans if they follow medical necessity guidelines. You will be notified prior to your procedure if authorization is denied. You will also be given the cost of procedure when the appointment is confirmed.

Q: Are you open on Saturday’s?

No, we are not open on Saturday’s for Imaging.

Q: What is the latest time I can be scheduled?

Latest check-in time is 3:00 for Holcombe location, 5:00 pm for Precision location, and 6:00 for Memorial Ultrasound.

Q: If I need to cancel my appointment, who do I contact?

Please contact Imaging scheduling department. There are two lines (713) 600-0903 and (713) 600-0912.

Q: Can I have my scan at a location outside the practice?

You are free to have the scans at the location of your choice.

Q: Can I take my medication before my appointment?

Hold medications for fasting procedures.

Q: Will I be able to drive myself home after my appointment?

Yes, you will be able to drive.

Q: I’m claustrophobic. How big is the scanner opening?

The machine is shaped like a doughnut and is open on both ends. It will be approximately 12 inches over the head. The head will not be in the machine the entire time. For some CT scans, the head will not go into the machine at all. Consult with your doctor or technologist for more information. The physician may decide to give a prescription for you to take and instruct you when to take it. Some people feel better with a cloth over their eyes, which you may bring, or we can provide for the day of your scan.

Q: How can I get a copy of the report from the Radiologist?

24 to 48 hours after your scan, the report will be available from your Oncologist. Please call your Oncologist to arrange a follow-up appointment to review a copy or your results. You can also request a copy of your images in a CD from any of the technologists who are helping with your scan. The CD will be available the same day after your scan.

Q: What did you see on the scan?

Our job as medical imaging technologists is to obtain images of the body in accordance with physician’s orders in the safest way possible. Only a trained Radiologist can interpret images. To discuss results of your scan, please contact your Oncologist.

Q: Can the results be sent to a physician outside of Oncology Consultants?

Yes. Please request this of the imaging technologist who is helping you on the day of the scan. If you would like results sent to a physician outside of Oncology Consultants once the report is finalized,  your Oncologist will need to send the report to the other physician.

Q: Can someone access my chest port before the scan?

Yes-the port can be accessed by an Oncology Nurse. If you are scheduled at our Precision Cancer Center location, please call ahead to make arrangements at
